Villa Angela - our Vigan City Accommodation.
Despite that I grew up in a place full of ghostly stories, staying in an old heritage house is never a problem for me in fact it even grabs my interest. That is why when I first heard about Villa Angela I immediately made up my mind and booked. Looking for a place to stay in Vigan is very easy anyway; you can just walk along Calle Crisollogo and would surely find some good accommodation.
Perhaps, you may wonder why I didn’t book an inn or hotel. The reason is that, I've read more horrific stories on their review than those of the ancestral houses. Of course that is only a joke! Kidding aside, I went for heritage house for me to be able to savor the antique city the way the old residents does.
Villa Angela was able to serve the purpose of our stay. The house is quite big and I love the big front yard of the house which is rarely found when you are staying in the heart of the city. The entire house though nicely aged needs a little more maintenance. I see visible file of dust at the corners and underneath the furniture. Some little house spiders already become comfortable on their little webs on some dangling chandeliers which bring a creepy sight on the observant visitors.
Aside from that, I don’t have anything to complain further. Our room was great! The bed is big enough for the four of us and we never had any paranormal experience. My sister even had a comfortable rest from a high fever the entire day alone in this room while we are out for a day tour.
The room has minimal furniture, just basically what we need. It has the old closet, a mirror and a side table that has a non-working old lamp – old beautiful bedside lamp.
In our room and at the dining area found a framed photo of Tom Cruise and the 2nd generation owner of Villa Angela Heritage House. This room is the room used by the famous Hollywood actor when he came in Ilocos to shoot his movie “4th of July”.
What creates a more wonderful experience is the breakfast. The staff here were really helpful and they made us feel warmly welcomed, they even cooked us our instant noodles without additional charge, they asked us the night before if what time do we want our breakfast served and they did as we requested.
The breakfast is served in the long table, in an old fashioned dining wears. Here you can have a chance to take your meal together with some other visitors which is really nice and festive. I happened to talk to one of the group who is staying on the room next to us and had a wonderful morning conversation. They mentioned they came from Pagudpud and regretted the short stay due to the uncooperative weather making them missed the good tour. They advised us to leave Vigan earlier to allow an ample time for finding a place in Pagudpud and avoid the possible hustle of bad weather in the late afternoon. The advice was indeed helpful and I was thankful to them.

That time of our stay, Villa Angela is fully occupied by guest and it was really hard to make a timing of getting clean photo despite that I manage to take those you've seen above. Speaking of photos one thing that I enjoyed inside were the old photos of the familly from the first generation up to the present. The photo brings back the feeling of reading the book of
Random Riggs' (Miss Peregrines Home of Peculiar children). True enough that photos could
tell a lot of stories and all of which happens to be really fascinating like
the evolution of fashion in our country. The series of photos, old kitchen
wares, furniture and the entire interior also tells a lot about the sophistication
and taste of the past residents of this house.
In the morning, our room was so cold even with the
air-conditioning off possibly because of the the wood wall and wide window that properly ventilates the area. I woke up as early as 4AM and had a cup of coffee, the
sachet of black coffee and cream were placed in one of the dividers found in
the dining area side with a water dispenser and thick bottle full of brown and
white sugar. I brought my cup at the living room where the center table is
found with real old chairs which are said to be the first products of
kalakalang Pilipinas at Europa. On top of this is a century old chandeliers
that though was rusted but still proved a clear carvings of European artistry (see the first photo above).

We checked out at Villa Angela at around 11:00 in the
morning but before that the staff guided us to see the Longganisa production at
Aling Ida’s place which is a block away from the Villa. We also took a sneak on Sequia mansion.
The entire stay was all good and pleasant. Nothing creepy
what so ever and I love the staff! This place will sure have my recommendation.
