Casa Consuelo Island Reef -Blue Lagoon Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte



 

Photos can be really deceiving, I have proven that many times – that’s why sometimes I can’t stop myself from getting this impression that overdoing a photograph is cheating rather than promoting. Our pagudpud stay is very important for me, like I mentioned total relaxation is our top most goal, I don’t travel full time – I work most of the time and I don’t mind spending some (as long as it’s not too much) just to be satisfied in pampering myself.

 

I decided for us to stay at blue lagoon for three days – two nights activity free vacation. So I can’t afford to pick a wrong place or else it will ruin our entire stay. So, in search for a place to stay in Pagudpud I always see to back-up those nice photos with latest reviews – I first turn to tripadvisor.com. I am eying for a well-known hotel in blue lagoon but after reading a bad but seems to be a sincere review I changed my mind. That review mention Casa Consuelo as the reviewer ended up walking farther and getting another accommodation, this time with a little budget.

 

Web tells quite few about Casa Consuelo and they don’t have a site yet – they have a well updated Facebook page though. I took their contact number from one of the blogs I read and Miss Armie, the owner gave us the suggested room for four persons. The price is a bit high for a less known place so I browse their page and was convince that this place is good to go.

 

 

We arrived in Casa Consuelo at 2PM after our North and South Pagudpud tour. The resort was at the rear part of Maira-Ira and is fronting the famous Dos Hermanos island with a delightful ambiance. Miss Armie (the owner) and her son Richard welcomed us. They are both perky in my first impression, so accommodating and hands-on on their business. I came to know that this place started with only one room rented like a homestay until the number of their patrons grew. The resort is at the beach front and it is 4-7 minutes walk away from the swimmable part of blue lagoon.

 

 

I checked the room and here it is, simple, cozy, charming and comfortable. You can say that they have a really good taste towards the details of the room interior. Our Room: Duplex Casa Room Elisa (Two double size bed, fully airconditioned, cable TV and CD player, own CR, Sitting area, Wireless Internet access (free)) DAILY ROOM RATES: 3,600.00 (good for four pax with breakfast)

 

 

 

 

Miss Armie also showed me a cheaper room – they called it cabana which can also accommodate four person but without its own comfort room. I love this cabana, I always felt some pleasure living like a gypsy and the interior has a boho accent in it that could have been really great too.

 

 

 

We stayed here for 3 days 2 nights, we thought that walking by the sea and enjoying the view, sleeping, eating and relaxing is all we can do. But Chad (Richard) offered us a hill hike to the highest point of northernmost Luzon, from this point you can have a very nice view of Blue Lagoon and Dos Hermanos. According to chad the government of Ilocos Norte is planning to set here windmills by 2014 so it will be another benefit for the settlers and another destination for the tourists.

 

 

After the tiring up hill climb, we went down and took some rest for 15 minutes and head to get a closer view of Dos Hermanos. Taking a very good advantage of the low tide we walked closer and getting to the other side reveals a hidden bat cave. This part doesn’t usually happen though, this place as I have seen it is quite dangerous, a lot of see orchins on the way and we even found a white band sea snake near the bat cave. You know how close to death you are when bitten by this snake, do you?

Going back to Casa Consuelo, I don’t have any doubt that we definitely enjoyed our stay, good nice place and most of all accommodating staff. The place is perfectly relaxing, not crowded and far from the noise of video-oke at night . I was surprise one time when we craved for instant pancit canton and we bought some in the store then they offer to cook it for us. Their food was also good, we ate in their café the entire stay. They do not over promise when it comes to their servings, Chad brief me that they serve home cooked dishes and it was really delicious. We ate a lot, they have fruits for merienda, fries and pasta. I ended up gaining additional 2.7 pounds, thanks for the food. Without hopping around to some restaurant (except from the restaurant of Hannah's Beach Resort) I can say that they could have served one of the best food here since we noticed a couple of surfer who’s already avail their everyday meal at the café after figuring out the reasonable price and how delicious the food are. We came to know that this couple has been staying in the nearby resort for a week already.

 

This is a place tucked for a relaxing and pampering vacation, where you can savor peace and privacy. Hope we can stay longer..
