Behind her Gown: Miss Ethyl Belo


Miss Ethyl Belo is an unexpected client referred to me by my office-mate - his brother. His brother asked me if I can do a Filipiñana gown for his elder sister and I dearly said yes since I thought, that would be another opportunity to learn.

I asked a week to make my design, it’s a week because I still went to the fabric stores and make sure that I have the available materials for the design that is currently lingering on my visions that time. After then I sent the design and it was approved. We meet to take the measurement and agreed to have a first fitting done after a week (Just the lining of the dress).


This is the design I created for her, she wanted something classic but visibly modern, something sexy yet preserved and fierce. What I have in this design is the whole at the side, this details really excites me to have the work done.

I originally visualized this gown to have a piña fabric with visible horizontal and vertical strands but the client want something more affordable so I looked for a satin that got some texture and just be creative. Miss Ethyl is really pretty with this dress and she mentioned feeling so sexy with the details and that makes me happy and inspired. What do you think with the dress?

    I love the dress! It is very true that it is huge at the bust, and that is saying something as I am a D cup. Though it will need alterations to adjust for my body dimensions
