Sinulog Festival: Grandeur festivity and The ramp of glam and pageantry
"Historical accounts reveal that the wooden Santo Nino was a bequest by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan after his arrival in the Philippine soil on 16 March 1521under the flagship of Spain to the wife of Rajah Humabon, Cebu’s chieftain. The image of Santo Niño became the emblem of friendship, taking, and conversion to Christianity of the natives. - sinulog.ph"
Sinulog Festival is one of the most remarkable festivals in the Philippines, this festival is being celebrated in honor to native's patron saint - Santo Niño. Something that the foreign and local tourists are looking forward to every third Sunday of January. Sinulog means graceful dancing but more than that, dancing was made more by loud beats of the drums and native music letting you experience the real grandeur of this festivity. Then comes the beautiful lady in the famous colorful and delicately crafted wears, together with the dancers colorfull costume - an ultimate color congestion in the city.
I haven't experience it yet, hopefully next year but in the mean time let me just share my favorite photos collected from last years celebration.
